[§52D-12]  Duty of police officer to owner. Any stolen or lost property in the custody of a police officer shall bedelivered to its owner or the owner's duly authorized agent upon satisfactoryproof of ownership, and if to an agent, of the agency; subject to payment bythe owner or agent of all reasonable expenses incurred in the preservation andsafekeeping of the property.
