[§161-46] Interstate and federal compacts. (a) The board is designated as the state agency which shall be responsible forcooperating with the United States Secretary of Agriculture under section 5 ofthe Federal Poultry Products Inspection Act and the board is directed tocooperate with the United States Secretary of Agriculture in developing andadministering the poultry inspection program of this State under this chapterto assure that not later than July 18, 1970, its requirements will be atleast equal to those imposed under the Federal Poultry Products Inspection Act,and in developing and administering the program of this State under thischapter in a manner that will effectuate the purposes of this chapter and theFederal Act.
(b) In such cooperative efforts, the board isauthorized to accept from the United States Secretary of Agriculture advisoryassistance in planning and otherwise developing the state program, technical andlaboratory assistance and training, including necessary curricular andinstructional materials and equipment, and financial and other aid for theadministration of such program.
(c) The board is also authorized to recommendto the United States Secretary of Agriculture such officials or employees ofthis State as the board may designate, for appointment to the advisorycommittees provided for in section 5 of the Federal Poultry Products InspectionAct; and the board shall serve as the representative of the governor forconsultation with the United States Secretary of Agriculture unless thegovernor selects another representative.
