§195F-3  Establishment of the foreststewardship program.  (a)  There is established a forest stewardshipprogram to be administered by the board to assist private landowners inmanaging, protecting, and restoring important watersheds, native vegetation, timberresources, fish and wildlife habitats, isolated populations of rare andendangered plants, and other lands that are not recognized as potential naturalarea reserves.

(b)  The program shall reimburse landowners fora portion of the landowners' total costs in developing and implementingapproved forest stewardship management plans pursuant to this chapter.

(c)  The program shall assist in the foreststewardship of public lands and in developing education and training programsfor sustainable forestry pursuant to section 195F-4(a)(2). [L 1991, c 327, ptof §2; am L 1999, c 144, §3]
