§304A-1003 - Faculty members; exchange privileges; conditions.
[§304A-1003] Faculty members; exchangeprivileges; conditions. (a) The board of regents may contract for theexchange of members of the faculty of the university with members of thefaculties of colleges or universities located without the State or the UnitedStates. Local members of the faculty so exchanged shall be paid their regularsalaries out of the funds appropriated for the pay of members of the faculty ofthe university. The qualifications of all members of the faculties of thecolleges or universities located without the State or the United States soexchanged shall be equal to those of local members of the faculty exchanged. Any provision of law to the contrary notwithstanding, the requirements ofcitizenship and residence shall not apply to any member of the faculty comingto the State from any foreign state, country, or territory under any suchcontract of exchange.
All members of the faculty so exchanged by theState shall furnish their own transportation to and from the state, country, orterritory with which exchanged.
(b) No compensation shall be paid by the Stateto members of the faculties exchanged from colleges or universities locatedwithout the State or the United States; provided that in any case where thelocal exchanged member of the faculty becomes incapacitated or, for any reason,leaves the exchange position permanently, the board may pay the visiting memberof the faculty an amount not to exceed the salary rating of the local exchangedmember of the faculty, such an arrangement to continue until the end of theperiod of exchange or until such time as some adjustment satisfactory to theboard has been made.
