§321-228  Emergency medical services;counties.  The department shall determine, in consultation with theadvisory committee under section 321-225, the levels of emergency medicalservices that shall be implemented in each county.  The department may contractto provide emergency medical services, including emergency aeromedicalservices, or any necessary component of a county emergency services system inconformance with the state system.  In the event any county shall apply to thedepartment to operate emergency medical ambulance services within therespective county, the department may contract with the county for theprovision of those services.  The department shall operate emergency medicalambulance services or contract with a private agency in those counties which donot apply to it under this section.  Any county or private agency contractingto provide emergency medical ambulance services under this section shall berequired by the department to implement those services in a manner and at alevel consistent with the levels determined under this section.
