FORCONTAMINANTS IN WATER

 

[§340E-21]  Definitions.  As used inthis part, unless the context requires otherwise:

“EPA risk assessment guidelines” meansguidelines developed by the United States Environmental Protection Agency forthe assessment of health risks from environmental pollutants and includes, butis not limited to, Guidelines for Estimating Exposures, Guidelines forMutagenicity Risk Assessment, Guidelines for the Health Assessment of SuspectDevelopmental Toxicants, and Guidelines for the Health Risk Assessment ofChemical Mixtures.

“Federal drinking water guidelines” means aproposed maximum contamination level, health advisory, or other guidancedeveloped by the United States Environmental Protection Agency to assist astate agency in responding to a contaminant in drinking water for which nomaximum contamination level (MCL) is established.

“Interim action level” means a levelestablished by the director of health for a contaminant in a public drinkingwater supply for which a maximum contamination level is not established by theEPA.

“Reliable analytical data” means informationapproved by the director as indicating the presence of a contaminant in a watersample at or above the limit of detection and developed according to generallyrecognized standards of good field practices and good laboratory practices forsampling and analysis of contaminants in water.
