§397-6 - Safety inspection by qualified inspectors.
§397-6 Safety inspection by qualifiedinspectors. (a) All safety inspections required under this chapter ofboilers and pressure systems shall be performed by deputy boiler inspectors inthe employ of the department who are qualified boiler inspectors and, whenauthorized by the director, may be performed by special inspectors who arequalified boiler inspectors in the employ of insurance companies insuringboilers or pressure systems in this State.
(b) A qualified boiler inspector is a personeligible for or in possession of a valid commission issued by the NationalBoard of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors and who has received from thedirector or the director's authorized agent briefings and instructionsregarding the rules and regulations pertaining to boilers and pressure systemsin this State.
(c) All safety inspections required under thischapter of elevators and kindred equipment shall be performed by deputyelevator inspectors of the department who are qualified elevator inspectors andwho are employed primarily for purposes of elevator and related inspectionwork.
(d) A qualified elevator inspector is a personwho meets the criteria of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and thestandards for the qualification of elevator inspectors of the American NationalStandards Institute and has satisfied requirements established by thedepartment of labor and industrial relations.
