[§429-1]  Definitions.  As used in thischapter:

"Member" means a person who, underthe rules or practices of a nonprofit association, may participate in theselection of persons authorized to manage the affairs of the nonprofitassociation or in the development of policy of the nonprofit association.

"Nonprofit association" means anunincorporated organization, other than one created by a trust, consisting oftwo or more members joined by mutual consent for a common, nonprofit purpose. However, joint tenancy, tenancy in common, or tenancy by the entireties doesnot by itself establish a nonprofit association, even if the co-owners shareuse of the property for a nonprofit purpose.

"Person" means an individual,corporation, business trust, estate, trust, partnership, association, jointventure, government, governmental subdivision, agency, or instrumentality, orany other legal or commercial entity. [L 1999, c 161, pt of §1]
