§431:8-102  Definitions.  As used inthis article:

"Authorized insurer" means an insurerholding a valid certificate of authority to transact an insurance business inthis State.

"Surplus lines broker" means anyproducer licensed under section 431:8-310 to place insurance on risks resident,located, or to be performed in this State with unauthorized insurers.

"Surplus lines insurance" means anyinsurance on risks resident, located or to be performed in this State, procuredfrom or placed with an unauthorized insurer in accordance with part III of thisarticle.

"Unauthorized insurer" means aninsurer not holding a valid certificate of authority to transact an insurancebusiness in this State. [L 1987, c 347, pt of §2; am L 1989, c 195, §18; am L2002, c 155, §13]
