§431:9-243 - Qualification for independent bill reviewer's license.
§431:9-243 Qualification for independentbill reviewer's license. To qualify for an independent bill reviewer'slicense, an applicant shall comply with this article and shall:
(1) Be domiciled in this State, or in a state thatwill permit residents of this State to act as independent bill reviewers in theother state;
(2) Have experience, special education, or trainingwith reference to the review or audit of billings for medical services underinsurance contracts, of sufficient duration and extent to reasonably make theindividual competent to fulfill the responsibilities of an independent billreviewer;
(3) Have successfully passed any examination requiredunder section 431:9-206; and
(4) Pay the license fees required by section 431:7‑101;
provided that any applicant who holds the credentialof certified professional coder granted by the American Academy of ProfessionalCoders or the credential of registered health information administrator,registered health information technician, certified coding specialist, orcertified coding associate granted by the American Health InformationManagement Association shall be exempt from the requirements in paragraphs (1)to (3).
