    Chapter 5. Right to Continuance

IC 2-3-5-1
Party to civil action; criminal defendant; party in administrativeadjudication before governmental entity
    
Sec. 1. Whenever a:
        (1) party to a civil action;
        (2) defendant in a criminal action; or
        (3) party in an administrative adjudication before a state or localgovernmental entity;
shall, in person or by attorney, move the court or other governmentalentity before which such action is pending for a continuance on thegrounds that said party or defendant, or his or her attorney, is amember of the general assembly of the state of Indiana, the court orother governmental entity shall grant such motion for a continuanceto a date not sooner than thirty (30) days following the date ofadjournment of the session of the general assembly during whichsuch cause of action has been set or rule has been made returnable.
