Chapter 7. Acquisition of Historical Sites

Application of chapter
Sec. 1. This chapter applies to all cities, all towns, and all
corporations formed under IC 23-7-1.1 (before its repeal on August
1, 1991) or IC 23-17.

Authorization to acquire sites; eminent domain
Sec. 2. Each corporation to which this chapter applies may
acquire and hold battlegrounds or other historic sites for the purpose
of maintaining or improving them for historical purposes. The
acquisition of property under this section is for a public use, and title
may be taken under the power of eminent domain.

Exemption from taxation
Sec. 3. Property acquired under this chapter is exempt from
taxation.
