        142C.17  ANNUAL DONATION AND COMPLIANCE REPORT.
         The Iowa department of public health, in conjunction with any
      statewide organ procurement organization in Iowa, shall prepare and
      submit a report to the general assembly on or before January 1 each
      year regarding organ donation rates and voluntary compliance efforts
      with hospital organ and tissue donation protocols by physicians,
      hospitals, and other health systems organizations.  The report shall
      contain the following:
         1.  An evaluation of organ procurement efforts in the state,
      including statistics regarding organ and tissue donation activity as
      of September 30 of the preceding year.
         2.  Efforts by any statewide organ procurement organization in
      Iowa, and related parties, to increase organ and tissue donation and
      consent rates.
         3.  Voluntary compliance efforts with hospital organ and tissue
      donation protocols by physicians, hospitals, and health systems
      organizations and the results of those efforts.
         4.  Annual contribution levels to the anatomical gift public
      awareness and transplantation fund created in section 142C.15, and
      any distributions made from the fund.
         5.  Efforts and ideas for increasing public awareness of the
      option of organ and tissue donation.
         6.  Additional information deemed relevant by the department in
      assessing the status and progress of organ and tissue donation
      efforts in the state.
