        144A.6  TREATMENT OF QUALIFIED PATIENTS.
         1.  A qualified patient has the right to make decisions regarding
      use of life-sustaining procedures as long as the qualified patient is
      able to do so.  If a qualified patient is not able to make such
      decisions, the declaration shall govern decisions regarding use of
      life-sustaining procedures.
         2.  The declaration of a qualified patient known to the attending
      physician to be pregnant shall not be in effect as long as the fetus
      could develop to the point of live birth with continued application
      of life-sustaining procedures.  However, the provisions of this
      subsection do not impair any existing rights or responsibilities that
      any person may have in regard to the withholding or withdrawal of
      life-sustaining procedures.
