321E.13 FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY. Prior to the issuance of any permit, the applicant for a permit shall be required to file proof of financial responsibility or to post a bond with the issuing authority. The amount of the bond shall be determined by the issuing authority and shall be used as security for repair or replacement of official signs, signals, and roadway foundations, surfaces, or structures which may be damaged or destroyed during the movement of a vehicle and load operating under the permit. The duration of the bond shall be determined by the issuing authority for a period not to exceed one year.
