321E.33 OVERSIZE PERMIT AGREEMENT. The director of transportation may, subject to the approval of the transportation commission, enter into agreements on behalf of this state with authorized representatives of other states concerning the movement of vehicles of excess size and weight. The director of transportation may enter into and the state department of transportation may become a member of an agreement allowing other states to issue permits authorizing the movement of vehicles of excess size and weight on state primary roads, collect established permit fees on behalf of the department, and exchange appropriate information. The director of transportation may adopt rules pursuant to chapter 17A to implement an agreement. Copies of any agreement shall be filed with the secretary of the senate and the chief clerk of the house.
