Chapter 20.--COURTS
Article 29.--NONPARTISAN SELECTION OF JUDGES OF THE DISTRICT COURT

      20-2915.   Same; effective date of appointment;eligibility forretention under nonpartisan method.(a) Whenever a vacancy in the office ofdistrict magistrate judge exists at the time the appointment to fill suchvacancy is made as provided in K.S.A. 20-2914, and amendments thereto, theappointment shallbe effective as of the official appointment date set by the supreme court.

      (b)   Any person appointed to the office of district magistrate judgeas provided in K.S.A. 20-2914 and amendments thereto, shall commenceupon the dutiesof office on the date such appointment takes effect, and any such personappointed shall have all the rights, privileges, powers andjurisdiction prescribed by law for the office of districtmagistrate judge. Exceptas otherwise provided in K.S.A. 20-337 and amendments thereto, any suchjudge shallbe eligible for retention in office in the same manner and under thesame conditions prescribed by law for the retention of district judgesin judicial districts which have approved the proposition of nonpartisanselection of district court judges.
