Chapter 22.--CRIMINAL PROCEDURE
KANSAS CODE OF CRIMINAL PROCEDURE
Article 25.--SEARCH AND SEIZURE

      22-2501.   Search without search warrant.When a lawful arrest is effected a law enforcement officer mayreasonably search the person arrested and the area within such person'simmediate presence for the purpose of

      (a)   Protecting the officer from attack;

      (b)   Preventing the person from escaping; or

      (c)   Discovering the fruits, instrumentalities, or evidence ofa crime.
