Chapter 22.--CRIMINAL PROCEDURE KANSAS CODE OF CRIMINAL PROCEDURE Article 25.--SEARCH AND SEIZURE

22-2526. Same; order, contents.(1) An attorney for the government or an investigative orlaw enforcement officer may make application for an order or an extensionof an order under K.S.A. 22-2527 authorizing or approving the installation anduse of a pen register or a trap and trace device under K.S.A. 22-2525 through 22-2529 toa court of competent jurisdiction. Such application shall be in writing andshall be under oath or equivalent affirmation.

(2) An application under subsection (1) shall include:

(a) The identity of the attorney for the government or the investigativeor law enforcement officer making the application and the identity of thelaw enforcement agency conducting the investigation; and

(b) a certification by the applicant that the information likely to beobtained is relevant to an ongoing criminal investigation being conducted by that agency.
