Chapter 22.--CRIMINAL PROCEDURE

Article 30.--GRAND JURIES

      22-3013.   Discharge and excuse.(1) A grand jury shall serve until it shall advise the court in writingthat it has completed its investigation, but no grand jury shall serve formore than three months unless extended by order of the district court. Thedistrict court may, before the expiration of the tenure of a grand jury,make an order extending such grand jury for an additional period of not toexceed three months if the court finds that an investigation begun by thegrand jury cannot be completed within the initial three months period andthat the public interest requires the continuation of the grand jury.

      (2)   At any time for cause shown the court may excuse a juror eithertemporarily or permanently, and in the latter event the court may impanelanother person in place of the juror excused.
