Chapter 22a.--DISTRICT OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES
Article 2.--DISTRICT CORONERS

      22a-245.   District coroners fund; allocations anddistributions.(a) There is hereby established in the state treasury thedistrict coroners fund.

      (b)   Moneys in the district coroners fundafter the payment of fees for autopsies under subsection (f) of K.S.A.22a-242 and amendments theretoshall beallocated and distributed to each county on March 15 of each year based on thenumber of recorded deaths in the county during the previous calendar year as aratio of the total number of deaths in this state during the previous calendaryear.Such distributions shall be credited to the county general fund to assist inpaying forthe district coroner's expenses pursuant to chapter 2 ofarticle 22a of the Kansas Statutes Annotated, and amendments thereto.Moneys in thedistrict coroners fund shall not be allocated anddistributed to the county general fund untilsuch time as all outstanding death certificates for the previous calendar yearare filed with the state registrar and suchcertificates contain the finalcause of death.

      (c)   Distributions to counties under this actand payments of fees for autopsies under subsection (f) of K.S.A. 22a-242andamendments thereto from this fundshall be made upon warrants of thedirector of accounts and reports issued pursuant to vouchers approved by thesecretary of health and environment or by a person or persons designated by thesecretary of health and environment.
