Chapter 24.--DRAINAGE AND LEVEES
Article 12.--WATERSHED DISTRICTS

      24-1203.   Establishment of district bypetition.Except as otherwise provided by K.S.A. 24-1203a, before anywatershed districtshall be organized, a petition shall befiled in the office of the secretary of state, signed by not less than 20% ofthe landowners and representing 25% of the acreage within said proposeddistrict as shown by averifiedenumeration of said landowners taken by a landowner of said proposeddistrict to be selected by the first 10 signers of thepetition. Averified copy of such enumeration shall be attached to and filedwith thepetition in the office of the secretary of state. Forpurposes of determining ownership, the county clerk of the county in whichany part of the watershed is described, upon demand, shallfurnish therecord of the ownership of the lands within the county from the tax rollsof the county, and such record of ownership shall besatisfactory evidenceof title.
