Chapter 24.--DRAINAGE AND LEVEES
Article 8.--LEVEES

      24-815.   Penalties for unlawful acts; removal of obstructions.Any person who shall willfully cut, break, damage or make a leak in suchlevee shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and shall upon conviction bepunished by a fine not exceeding five hundred dollars, or by imprisonmentin the county jail not exceeding one year, or by both such fine andimprisonment. Any person who shall, without the consent of all the partiesinterested in such levee, throw up or cause to be built any cross-levee,dike or embankment, for the purpose of preventing the flow of the surfacewater in its natural course to the sewer pipes or openings provided for theescape of such surface water, or shall otherwise change the contour of suchlevee districts by the building of such cross-levees or embankments, or byany other act render the protection afforded by said levee to all partiesless effective and complete, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and shallupon conviction be punished by a fine of not exceeding one hundred dollarsfor such offense; and it shall be the duty of the levee supervisor of suchlevee thus affected to remove such obstructions, cross-levee, dike, orembankment, and the cost of removing the same shall be paid out of thegeneral fund of the county, and shall be assessed and collected as taxesagainst the land of the party or parties causing the same to be built.
