Chapter 25.--ELECTIONS
Article 39.--FILLING VACANCIES IN OFFICES AND CANDIDACIES

      25-3901.   Definitions.As used in this act, unless the context otherwise requires, the wordsand terms defined in article 25 of chapter 25 of Kansas StatutesAnnotated shall have the meaning therein ascribed thereto, to the extentthat the same are not in conflict with the following:

      (a)   "District office" means the office of district judge, district magistratejudge, county commissioner, staterepresentative, state senator, district attorney or county attorney.

      (b)   "Party" means a political party having a state and nationalorganization and of which the officer or candidate whose position hasbecome vacant was a member.

      (c)   "Party candidacy" means a candidate of a political party for aparty nomination at a primary election or the party candidate at ageneral election.

      (d)   "General election" means the election held on the Tuesdaysucceeding the first Monday in November in even-numbered years.

      (e)   "Primary election" means the election held on the first Tuesdayin August in even-numbered years.

      (f)   "County chairman" or "county chairperson" means thechairperson of the county centralcommittee, provided to be elected under K.S.A. 25-3802 and amendmentsthereto, of the politicalparty of which the officer or candidate whose position has become vacantwas a member.
