Chapter 25.--ELECTIONS
Article 44.--ELECTRONIC AND ELECTROMECHANICAL VOTING SYSTEMS

      25-4403.   Same; county commission and electionofficer may authorize;issuance of bonds; abandonment of system, when.(a) The board of county commissioners and the county election officer of anycounty may provide an electronic or electromechanical voting system tobe used at voting places, or for advance voting in the county atnational, state, county, township,city and school primary and general elections and in question submittedelections.

      (b)   The board of county commissioners of any county in which the board ofcounty commissioners and county election officer have determined that anelectronic or electromechanical voting system shall be usedmay issue bonds to finance and pay for purchase,lease or rental of such a system.

      (c)   The board of county commissioners and the countyelection officer of any county may adopt, experiment with or abandon anyelectronic or electromechanical system herein authorized and approved for usein the state and may use such a system in all or any part of the voting areaswithin the county or in combination with an optical scanning voting systemor with regular paper ballots. Whenever the secretary of state rescindsapproval of any voting system, the board of county commissioners and the countyelection officer shall abandon such system until changes therein required bythe secretary of state have been made, or if the secretary of state advisesthat acceptable changes cannot be made therein, such abandonment shall bepermanent.
