Chapter 31.--FIRE PROTECTION Article 6.--FIRE SAFETY STANDARDS FOR CIGARETTES

31-605. Same; cigarette markings.(a) Cigarettes that arecertified by a manufacturer in accordance withK.S.A. 2009 Supp.31-604,and amendmentsthereto, shall be marked with the letters "FSC", which signifies fire standardscompliant, appearingin eight-point type or larger and permanently printed, stamped,engraved or embossed on thepackage at or near the UPC code. A manufacturer certifying cigarettes inaccordance withK.S.A. 2009 Supp.31-604,and amendments thereto, shall provide a copy of the certifications to anywholesale dealer and itsagents to which the manufacturer sells cigarettes. Any wholesale dealer, agent,retail dealer orvending machine operator shall permit the state fire marshal, the director, theattorney general, andemployees thereof, to inspect cigarette packaging marked in accordance withthis section.

(b) The provisions of this section shall take effect and be in force from andafter July 1, 2009.

31-605.
