Chapter 39.--MENTALLY ILL, INCAPACITATED AND DEPENDENT PERSONS; SOCIAL WELFARE
Article 7.--SOCIAL WELFARE

      39-7,136.   Access to information relating to a IV-Dcase.Pursuant to a subpoena for records issued under the code ofcivil procedure or K.S.A. 39-7,144, and amendments thereto, thesecretary or a titleIV-D agency of another state shallhave access to information related to a IV-D case that is in the custody orcontrol of an individual or private entity as follows:

      (a)   Each party to a paternity or child support proceeding inany case included in the state case registry shall provide, and update asappropriate, information about the location and identity of the party. To theextent such information exists, it shall include but not be limited to theperson's full name, social security number, residential and mailing addresses,telephone number, driver's license number and the name, address and telephonenumber of the person's employer.

      (b)   Any employershall promptly provide information on the employment,compensation and benefits of any individual employed by such person or entityas an employee or contractor.

      (c)   Any person or entityholding customer records of a public utility or cable television company shallcomply with a subpoena for information about an individual consisting of theindividual's name, address, employer, or employer's address as reflected insuch records.

      (d)   A financial institutionshall promptly provide information upon request about an individual or theindividual's property of liabilities.

      (e)   Confidential information received by the secretary under this sectionshall be subject to the safeguards of K.S.A. 39-759 and amendments thereto.

      (f)   This section shall be part of and supplemental to article 7 of chapter39 of the Kansas Statutes Annotated.
