Chapter 40.--INSURANCE
Article 2.--GENERAL PROVISIONS

      40-2,106.   Definitions.For the purposes of this act: (1) "Independent insurance agent" meansany licensed agent representing an insurance company on an independent contractorbasis and not as an employee. This term shall include only those agentsnot obligated by contract to place insurance accounts with any insurancecompany or group of companies.

      (2)   "Insurance company" means any property or casualty insurance companyadmitted to the state of Kansas, except the term shall not include any companywhich requires membership in the company, as contained in the articles ofincorporation or bylaws of such company, as a prerequisite to insuring that member.

      (3)   "Commissioner" means the commissioner of insurance.
