Chapter 44.--LABOR AND INDUSTRIES
Article 14.--NEIGHBORHOOD IMPROVEMENT AND YOUTH EMPLOYMENT

      44-1402.   Grants for youth employment.In accordance with appropriation acts, the secretary of commerce shallprovide grants to eligible administrative entities, as described in K.S.A.44-1403, and amendments thereto,for the purpose of establishing and carrying out programs that provideemployment opportunities during the summer months and after school toindividuals through payments for laborand related costs associated with the repair, maintenance and renovation ofessentialcommunity facilities and for labor and related costs associated withassistingwith community services and working with low-income senior citizens. In thealternative, if theeligible entity is a private business, such entity may provide employmentopportunities that would provide the youth with meaningful and valuable workexperiences other than such community services and assistance. Such privatebusiness shall specifically stipulate in the grantapplication what would be such work experience.
