Chapter 44.--LABOR AND INDUSTRIES
Article 5.--WORKERS COMPENSATION

      44-549.   Hearings, venue; final award of administrative law judge; hearingpowers of director and board.(a) All hearings upon all claims for compensation under theworkers compensation act shall be held by theadministrative law judge in thecounty in which the accident occurred, unless otherwise mutually agreedby the employee and employer. The award, finding, decision or order ofan administrative law judge when filed in the office of the director shall bedeemed tobe the final award, finding, decision or order of theadministrative law judge.

      (b)   The director and the board, for the purpose of the workerscompensation act, shall have power toadminister oaths, certify to official acts, take depositions, issuesubpoenas, compel the attendance of witnesses and the production ofbooks, accounts, papers, documents, and records to the same extent as isconferred on district courts of this state under the code of civilprocedure.
