Chapter 46.--LEGISLATURE
Article 4.--INTERSTATE COOPERATION COMMISSION

      46-407a.   Advisory committee on uniform state laws; duties; Kansas representativesto national conference of commissioners on uniform state laws; membership;compensation, expenses and allowances.There is hereby established an advisory committee to the Kansascommission on interstate cooperation. Such committee shall be composedof five members. Three of such members shall be members of the Kansas barto be appointed by the commissionwith the advice of the president of the bar association of the state ofKansas and the incumbency of each such member of the committee shall extenduntil the first day of February of the odd-numbered year following appointmentand thereafter until a successor isappointed. The other two members shall be the chairpersons of the houseand senate standing committees on judiciary, except that each such chairpersonmay appoint another member of the committee on judiciary of the same housewho is an attorney to serve as a member in lieu of such chairperson forsuch member's then current term as a legislator. The members of such committeeshall be the officialrepresentatives or delegates of the state of Kansas to the nationalconference of commissioners on uniform state laws. Such committee shallaccount to and advise with the Kansas commission on interstatecooperation and it shall be its duty to investigate and consider theadvisability or uniformity of the laws of the several states and to makerecommendations on all subjects where uniformity may be desirable andpractical. Such committee shall report to the Kansas commission oninterstate cooperation from time to time on its activities and make suchrecommendations as it deems advisable for appropriate legislation.Members of the committee shall be paid compensation and travel expensesand subsistence expenses or allowances for attendance at meetings of thecommittee as authorized by K.S.A. 75-3212. Any person who byreason of membership on such committee has been accredited by thenational conference of commissioners on uniform state laws as a lifemember of that organization shall be an associate member of thecommittee and shall receive the same travel expenses and subsistenceexpenses for attendance at meetings as regular members of the committee,but shall receive no per diem compensation. Whenever any regular memberof the committee shall be so accredited by the national conference ofcommissioners on uniform state laws, such member shall thereupon become anassociate member and a vacancy shall exist in the regular membership ofthe committee. Such vacancy shall be filled by appointment by thecommission with the advice of the president of the bar association ofthe state of Kansas. All amounts authorized under this section shall bepaid by the Kansas commission on interstate cooperation.
