Chapter 53.--NOTARIES PUBLIC AND COMMISSIONERS
Article 4.--FOREIGN PUBLIC DOCUMENTS

      53-401.   Accession to Hague convention; procedure for certification ofdocument.(a) The state of Kansas hereby declares its intent to accedeto the Hague convention abolishing the requirement of legalization for foreignpublic documents.

      (b)   Upon presentation of a public document to which the convention applies,the secretary of state, or an assistant or deputy assistant secretary ofstate appointed pursuant to K.S.A. 75-412, shall affix to thedocument the certificate required by the convention. The secretary of stateshall maintain a record of all documents certified under this section andshall charge $5 for certification of any such document.
