Chapter 53.--NOTARIES PUBLIC AND COMMISSIONERS
Article 5.--NOTARIAL ACTS

      53-504.   Notarial acts in this state; who mayperform.(a) A notarial act may beperformed within this state by the following persons:

      (1)   A notary public of this state;

      (2)   a judge, clerk or deputy clerk of any court of this state;

      (3)   a county clerk or deputy county clerk;

      (4)   an election commissioner or assistant election commissioner; or

      (5)   any other person authorized to perform the specific act bythe law ofthis state.

      (b)   Notarial acts performed within this state under federal authorityas provided in K.S.A. 53-506, and amendments thereto, shall have the sameeffect as if performed bya notarial officer of this state.

      (c)   The signature and title of a person performing a notarial act areprima facie evidence that the signature is genuine and that the person holdsthe designated title.
