Chapter 59.--PROBATE CODE
Article 29.--CARE AND TREATMENT FOR MENTALLY ILL PERSONS

      59-2974.   Notice of discharge; restoration of certainrights.The head of the treatment facility shallnotify, in writing, the patient, the patient's attorney, thepetitioner or the petitioner's attorney, the county or districtattorney as appropriate, and the district court which hasjurisdiction over the patient of the patient's discharge pursuantto K.S.A. 59-2973 and amendments thereto. When a notice ofdischarge is received, the court shall file the same which shallterminate the proceedings, unless there has been issued asuperseding inpatient or outpatient treatment order not beingdischarged by the notice. Whenever a person who is involuntarily committedtoa state psychiatric hospital is released by order of the court or terminationof the case, the court shall review the case upon request of the patient, andmay order the issuance of the certificate of restoration pursuant to K.S.A.2009 Supp. 75-7c26,and amendments thereto. If the court issues such release or termination andcertificate, the court shall order the clerk of the district court to reportthe release ortermination of the case and the certificate of restoration to the Kansas bureauof investigation within five daysafter the order.
