Article 29.--PHYSICAL THERAPY

      65-2909.   Examinations; when not required; fees;temporary permits.(a) The boardmay issue a license in physicaltherapy withoutexamination to an applicant who presents evidence satisfactorytothe board of having passed the examination in physical therapy approved bythe board oran examination before alawfully authorized examining board in physical therapy ofanotherstate, District of Columbia, territory or foreign country, if the standardsfor licensure in physical therapy in such otherstate, district,territory or foreign country are determined by the board to be as high asthose of this state. At the time of making such application, the applicantshall pay to the board a fee as prescribed, no part of which shall bereturned.

      (b)   The boardmay issue a certificate as a physical therapist assistantwithout examinationtherein to an applicant who presents evidence satisfactory to the board ofhaving passed an examination as a physical therapist assistantapproved bythe board or an examination beforea lawfully authorized examining board in physical therapy ofanotherstate, District of Columbia, territory or foreign country, if the standards forcertification in physical therapy in such other state, District ofColumbia, territory or foreign country are determined by the board to beas high as those of this state. At the time of making such application,the applicant shall pay to theboard a fee as prescribed, no part of which shall be returned.

      (c)   The board may issue a temporary permit to an applicant for licensureas a physical therapist or an applicant for certification as a physicaltherapist assistant who applies for a temporary permit on a form provided bythe board, who meets the requirements for licensure as a physical therapist orfor certification as a physical therapist assistant or who meets all of therequirements for licensure or certification except examination and who pays tothe board the temporary permit fee as required under K.S.A. 65-2911 andamendments thereto. Such temporary permit shall expire three months from thedateof issue or on the date that the board approves the application for licensureor certification, whichever occurs first. No more than one such temporarypermit shall be granted to any one person.
