Chapter 66.--PUBLIC UTILITIES
Article 1.--POWERS OF STATE CORPORATION COMMISSION

      66-117e.   Exemption from filing rates and schedules, when.(a) The state corporation commission shall have the authority toexempt any public utility or common carrier over which the commission hasjurisdiction from the requirementsof publishing and filing with the commission copies of schedules of rates,joint rates, tolls, charges, classifications and divisions of rates forjurisdictional services affectingKansas customers and charged for any such service that is not subject to priceregulation. After a public utility or common carrier service has been exemptedfrom such requirements, the commission may require such publicutility or common carrier to publish and file with the commission tariffs forsuch service whennecessary to protect consumers from fraudulent business practices or practicesthat are inconsistent with the public interest, convenience and necessity orwhen the commission otherwise deems necessary.

      (b)   The provisions of this section shall take effect on and after July 1,1997.
