Article 1.--POWERS OF STATE CORPORATION COMMISSION
66-1,116.Public motor carriersoperating as common carriersininterstate commerce register in base state; exempt carriers shall providecertain information.(a) It shall be unlawful for a public motor carrier of property, ofhousehold goods or ofpassengers tooperatein interstate commerce regulated by therelevant federal agency withoutregistering its motor vehicles in its base state pursuant to federalstatutes inorder to operate in Kansas.
(b) It shall be unlawful for a public motor carrier of property, ofhousehold goods or ofpassengers or aprivate motor carrier of property which is exempt from federalregulations, to operate in interstate commercewithinthis state, without having furnished the commission, inwritingsuch information as the commission may request coveringobservance of state police regulations and the payments of the fees. This actshall apply to all personsandmotorvehiclesengaged in interstate commerce only to the extent permitted by theconstitution and laws of the United States.
