Article 20.--TOLL ROADS OR TURNPIKES

      68-2048c.   Same; reimbursement of counties if refunding bonds issued;allowing for negotiation for reimbursement for Haysville and K-96 projects.(a) In the event the Kansas turnpike authority issues refundingbonds at any time, such issue shall include amounts sufficient to pay theobligation of this section. In such event, the Kansas turnpike authorityshall pay to Sedgwick, Sumner, Butler and Douglas counties amounts equalto the cost to each county incurred under this act for bond principal andinterest and costs incidental thereto. If any bonds are outstanding atsuch time each such county shall deposit in a special fund from such amounts,an amount sufficientto pay the remaining bond interest and principal payments. Amounts in suchfunds shall be used only for such purpose. The remaining amounts receivedby each county shall be deposited in the road and bridge fund of the county.

      (b)   The provisions of subsection (a) shall not apply in the event Sedgwickcounty and the Kansas turnpike authority contract to construct an interchangeon the Kansas turnpike in the general vicinity of the turnpike intersectionwith 71st street near Haysville. Sedgwick county may negotiate with theKansas turnpike authority to pay to Sedgwick county the cost Sedgwick countyincurred under this act for bond principal and interest and costs incidentalthereto for the construction of such interchange.

      (c)   The provisions of subsection (a) shall not apply in the eventSedgwick county and the Kansas turnpike authority contract to construct aninterchange on the Kansas turnpike in the general vicinity of the turnpikeintersection with highway K-96. Sedgwick county may negotiate with theKansas turnpike authority to pay to Sedgwick county the cost Sedgwickcounty incurred under this act for bond principal and interest and costsincidental thereto for the construction of such interchange.
