Article 20.--TOLL ROADS OR TURNPIKES

      68-2085.   Projects to become part of the state highway system afterretirement of bonds, exception; operation by secretary of transportation;continuation of tolls.Except as otherwise provided in K.S.A. 68-2086, when all bonds issuedunder the provisions of this act in connection with any highway project andthe interest thereon shall have been paid or a sufficient amount for thepayment of all bonds and the interest thereon to the maturity thereof shallhave been set aside in trust for the benefit of the bondholders, suchproject, if then in good condition and repair, shall become a part of thestate highway system and shall thereafter be maintained by the departmentof transportation. The secretary of transportation, when any projectbecomes a part of the state highway system, shall have the same power asvested in the authority by K.S.A. 68-2078 to fix, revise, charge andcollect tolls for the use of such project and to contract for the use ofany part thereof and to fix the terms, conditions, rents and rates ofcharges for such use, and such tolls, rents and rates of charges shall besufficient to provide enough revenue to maintain, repair, operate, regulateand police any project and to reimburse the secretary of transportation,for the credit of the state highway fund, any amounts previously paid tothe authority by the secretary of transportation pursuant to the provisionsof this act and not theretofore reimbursed to the secretary.
