Chapter 68.--ROADS AND BRIDGES

Article 20.--TOLL ROADS OR TURNPIKES

      68-20,108.   Projects to become part of the state highway systemafter retirement of bonds; operation by secretary of transportation;continuation of tolls, when.Except as otherwise provided in K.S.A. 68-20,109, when allbonds issued under the provisions of this act in connection with anyhighway project and the interest thereon shall have been paid or asufficient amount for the payment of all bonds and the interest thereonto the maturity thereof shall have been set aside in trust for thebenefit of the bondholders, such project, if then in good condition andrepair, shall become a part of the state highway system and shallthereafter be maintained by the department of transportation. Thesecretary of transportation, when any project becomes a part of thestate highway system, shall have the same power as vested in theauthority by K.S.A. 68-20,101 to fix, revise, charge andcollect tolls for the use of such project and to contract for the use ofany part thereof and to fix the terms, conditions, rents and rates ofcharges for such use, and such tolls, rents and rates of charges shallbe sufficient to provide enough revenue to maintain, repair, operate,regulate and police any project and to reimburse the secretary, for thecredit of the state highway fund, any amounts previously paid to theauthority by the secretary pursuant to the provisions of this act andnot theretofore reimbursed to the secretary.
