Chapter 68.--ROADS AND BRIDGES

Article 5.--COUNTY AND TOWNSHIP ROADS

      68-501.   County engineer, appointment, qualifications, approval;termination of appointment, when.The board of county commissioners of each county shall appoint alicensed professional engineer, whose official title shall be countyengineer. Such appointment may be terminated without cause on June 1 of anyyear by a majority vote of the board of county commissioners or may beterminated for cause at any time by the board of county commissioners or byorder of the secretary of transportation for incompetency or by dissolutionof a county engineer district: Provided, That all appointments ofcounty engineers shall be approved by the secretary of transportation. Theprovisions of this section shall not disqualify any county engineer who isnot a licensed professional engineer and who was holding office as countyengineer on June 30, 1961, and any such person shall be eligible forappointment as a county engineer.
