Chapter 68.--ROADS AND BRIDGES
PART I.--ROADS
Article 5.--COUNTY AND TOWNSHIP ROADS

      68-506a.   City connecting link in county highway; city tax levy andbonds.The governing body of the city through which any such public highwayshall pass, and which said city shall be declared a benefit districtunder the provisions of K.S.A. 68-506, shall be authorized tobear its proportion of the cost of constructing said highway at the costof said city, and the same shall be collected by a tax levied upon allthe taxable property within said city, and where the mayor and councilof said city shall deem it necessary, they are hereby authorized toissue bonds of said city to pay the cost thereof, bearing interest notto exceed the maximum rate of interest prescribed by K.S.A. 10-1009, andpayable in approximately equal annual installments over a period of notto exceed fifteen (15) years, and shall levy a tax upon the taxableproperty of said city for the purpose of meeting the interest paymentsupon said bonds and to pay the principal at maturity, and should themayor and council fail to levy a tax for the purpose of making thepayments of interest and principal as herein provided for, then it shallbe the duty of the board of county commissioners of said county to levya tax upon the taxable property of said city and cause the same to beplaced upon the tax rolls and collected the same as other taxes of saidcity.
