Chapter 68.--ROADS AND BRIDGES
PART I.--ROADS
Article 5.--COUNTY AND TOWNSHIP ROADS

      68-531.   Same; compensation; bond;tenure.The compensation of the road overseer and assistants shall be fixedby the township board at such rate as may be reasonable for the timeactually employed in the performance of their duties. In townships where atownship board member has been designated as road overseer under K.S.A. 68-530,and amendments thereto, and when suchboard member is paidby the day and not bycontract, such board member shall be compensated inanamount determined by the board as provided by K.S.A. 80-207, and amendmentsthereto. Before entering upon such duties, theoverseer shall give bond unto the township, with surety to be approvedby the township board, in the sum of $1,000, conditioned upon thefaithful discharge of such duties and the protection, care andreturn ofall property of the township which may come into the overseer'scustody. Thetownship overseer and any assistants, if any, shall hold office atthepleasure of the township board.
