Chapter 72.--SCHOOLS
Article 36.--PARENT EDUCATION

      72-3604.   Development and operation of programs authorized; interlocaland cooperative agreements; contracts; grants of state moneys, applicationand eligibility requirements; reports.(a) The board of every school district may: (1) Develop andoperate a parent education program; (2) enter into cooperative orinterlocal agreements with one or more other boards for the development andoperation of a parent education program; (3) contract with private,nonprofit corporations or associations or with any public or private agencyor institution, whether located within or outside the state, for theprovision of services which are appropriate to a parent educationprogram; and (4) apply for a grant of state moneys tosupplement amounts expended by the school district for development andoperation of a parent education program.

      (b)   In order to be eligible to receive a grant of state moneys for the development and operation of a parent education program, a boardshall submit to the state board an application for a grant and adescription of the program. The application and description shallbe prepared in such form and manner as the state board shall require andshall be submitted at a time to be determined and specified by the stateboard. Approval by the state board of the program and theapplication is prerequisite to the award of a grant.

      (c)   Each board which is awarded a grant under this act shall make suchperiodic and special reports of statistical and financial information tothe state board as it may request.
