Chapter 72.--SCHOOLS
Article 44.--CAREER TECHNICAL EDUCATION

      72-4464.   Payment of scholarships; times and method; disposition upondiscontinued attendance of scholar.(a) Payments to vocational education scholars of vocationaleducation scholarships shall be made at times specified by the board ofregents upon vouchers approved by its designated administrative officer andupon warrants of the director of accounts and reports. Payments ofvocational education scholarships may be made by the issuance of a singlewarrant to each designated educational institution at which a vocational education scholaris enrolled for the total amount of vocational education scholarships forall vocational education scholars enrolled at that institution. Thedirector of accounts and reports shall cause such warrant to be deliveredto the designated educational institution at which the vocational education scholar orscholars are enrolled. Upon receipt of such warrant, the designated educationalinstitution shall credit immediately the account of each vocationaleducation scholar enrolled at that institution by an amount specified bythe board of regents for each such scholar.

      (b)   If a vocational education scholar discontinues attendance before theend of a vocational education program or program term, after the designatededucational institution hasreceived payment under this section, the designated educational institution shall pay tothe state: (1) The entire amount which the vocational education scholarwould otherwise qualify to have refunded not to exceed the amount of thepayment made under the vocational education scholarship; or (2) if thevocational education scholar has received payments under any federalprogram of student assistance, the state's pro rata share of the entireamount which the vocational education scholar would otherwise qualify tohave refunded, not to exceed the amount of the payment made under thevocational education scholarship.

      (c)   All amounts paid to the state by a designated educational institution undersubsection (b) shall be deposited in the state treasury and credited to thevocational education scholarship discontinued attendance fund which is herebyestablished. All expenditures from the vocational education scholarshipdiscontinued attendance fund shall be for vocational education scholarships.
