Chapter 72.--SCHOOLS
Article 77.--STATE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION

      72-7702.   Retention of civil service status of employees; transferof employees.(a) Employees of the state department of public instruction provided forby K.S.A. 72-107, which department is hereby abolished, shall retainrights and status to the extent provided in subsection (c) of thissection. This provision shall apply to all persons appointed under K.S.A.72-114.

      (b)   Employees of the state board of education established by K.S.A.72-124 and the state board for vocational education established byK.S.A. 72-4302 shall retain rights and status to the extent provided insubsection (c) of this section. This provision shall apply to all suchpersons appointed by either such board or by the director of vocationaleducation.

      (c)   The employees specified in subsections (a) and (b) of thissection except employees in the division of vocational rehabilitationwho are in the classified service under the Kansas civil service act onthe effective date of this act shall be employed in the same orcomparable positions in the state department of education established bythis act, and shall retain rights and status acquired under said civilservice act, subject, however, to the appointment by the state board ofassistant commissioners as provided in K.S.A. 72-7603 and other specialofficers appointed under K.S.A. 72-7512 or under other provisions of law.

      (d)   The employees specified in subsection (b) of this section whoare in the division of vocational rehabilitation shall be transferred tothe state department of social welfare as provided by law.
