Chapter 72.--SCHOOLS
Article 86.--DEDUCTIONS FROM AND REDUCTION OF COMPENSATION

      72-8601.   Deductions; authorization thereof;continuation of authorization;conditions; limitations.(a) The board of education of any school district or the board of trusteesof any community college may provide by resolution for deductionsfor specified purposes from the compensation paid to its employees. Anysuch resolution shall provide for written authorization from each employee,in specific terms as to the amount, subject to the provisions of subsection(b), purpose and disposition of any amounts so deducted. Deductions fortaxes and other amounts required by law to be deducted from employees'compensationshall not require written authorization of the employee.

      (b)   Written authorizations from employees for deductions from compensationfor payments of professional association dues shall remain in effect untilmodified or revoked in writing by the professional association or the employee,or until the employee's contract of employment is terminated. So long as the writtenauthorization from an employee for deductions for professional associationdues remains in effect and upon written notice of an increase in the amountof such dues being given to the board of education or the board of trusteesand to all affected employees, the amount specified to be deducted in suchwritten authorization may be increased by an amount deemed necessaryby a professionalassociation for a school year. In no event shall the amount of deductionsfrom compensation for payments of professional association dues be increasedmore than one time in each school year without specific written authorizationfrom the employeefor such increase.
