Chapter 72.--SCHOOLS
Article 99.--AT-RISK EDUCATION

      72-9922.   Same; grants, application, amountawarded.(a) Applications for grants underthe program shall be prepared and submittedin the form and manner required by the state board. The application shall beaccompanied by anyinformation required by the state board.

      (b)   The amount of money awarded through a grant shall not exceed the amountof actualexpenses incurred by the district in the establishment and maintenance of thedistrict's plan ofinterventions.If a district is paid more than it is entitled to receive under the program,the state board shallnotify the district of the amount of such overpayment, and such district shallremit the same tothe state board. The state board shall remit any moneys so received to thestate treasurer inaccordance with the provisions of K.S.A. 75-4215, and amendments thereto. Uponreceipt ofeach such remittance, the state treasurer shall deposit the entire amount inthe state treasury to thecredit of the state school district finance fund. If any district fails so toremit, the state board shalldeduct the excess amounts so paid from future payments becoming due to thedistrict. If anydistrict is paid less than the amount to which it is entitled under anydistribution made under thisact, the state board shall pay the additional amount due at any time within theschool year inwhich the underpayment was made or within 60 days after the end of such schoolyear.

      (c)   The board of education of any district which isawarded a grant for an improvement planshall make periodic and special reports to the state board of education as itmay request.
