A member of the board may be removed from office for cause, provided that said member shall have a right to request a public hearing which shall be advertised by notification of the major social work organizations and publication of notices in the commonwealth. Upon the death, resignation or removal for cause of any member of the board, the governor, after consultation with the board, shall fill such vacancy for the remainder of that member’s term.
