Section 6. If the custody of a minor is given to a guardian, under section five of chapter two hundred and one, for the reason that one or both of his parents are unfit to have such custody, such guardian may in the discretion of the court give a bond without surety; but the court in such case may, at any time if it finds that the protection of the ward’s interests renders it necessary, require such guardian to give bond with sureties.
